Good surfing etiquettes

October 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

On Zen-ish principles, the following practices would do good while surfing the web.

1. Logging out of chat when you do not need to chat. Going invisible does not qualify as logging out of chat.

2. Close unnecessary tabs. Larger the number of tabs, greater the ‘web fatigue’ and tendencies to waste time on chat.

3. Forget add ons that clutter your browser. Chrome has improved the surfing experience a lot by cutting out on the unnecessary. I like the free space. Refresh and back are practically the only keys I use.

4. Open new windows when the number of tabs increase. Keeps the tabs very readable.

5. Slow Down – Spend more time on each web page. You miss a lot more than gain a little by running around the web.
