February 23, 2009 · 5 Comments

1. I ll never wear a watch and disable the mobile time. I ll define the time except when I travel
2. I would have made a Spam free presence on net – like full power.
3. I will be a DJ.
4. I will be a painter
5. I will be thin, trim and fit – not muscular
6. I would have travelled the seas
7. I would have a yacht of my own
8. I will own a neat bike on which I would have done Nariman Point – Howrah Bridge
9. I would have authored that book which would have been read by atleast 100 people – who would die for it

HELL YEAH \m/

HR – the other side of the coin.

February 23, 2009 · 1 Comment

The previous post has left me with a good hard on for a while. Looks like junta liked it and a blogger friend of mine decided to do a guest post on his blog with the HR sucks article. Ego boost babes!

Well I have nothing against people who follow the good profession of Human Resources. That is a good place to be and your intentions are completely good. Except when you agree to be the Bitch to the Board of Directors. That sucks a little.

1. HR sure can take a lot of initiatives which they themselves are ready to follow.

2. Respect the power of internet and the new media. Internet is so mad cool. There is a lot of things that can be done. The pre-notion that Orkut and Facebook are the only two things employees are interested in is a misnomer. Its a matter of time when people get bored of them and start Googling. This time could range from 6 months to a year.

Start with these two things and see how different the place you work becomes.

Indian IT HR FAIL

February 17, 2009 · 2 Comments

I happened to stumble on an HCL slideshare PPT called “Employee First Customer Second”. Got a little interested in the deal and found it to be a miserable FAIL that can never make any reasonable difference.

So, I played the same game and put up a 5 minute PPT answer again on slideshare. Keeping a conversation happening and all. I know it sounds corny – but hey Freedom of Speech and mockery (without personal blah) is always fine

Media hyped brain

I am sure water quenches thirst better than carbon dioxide stuffed drinks. Does Indira Nooyi really have Pepsi? Or do Aamir Khan really have all that Coke? That man is on a diet of fruits and juices for all you care.

Thanks to advertising and bollywood couples who we look up to madly, we do have a lot of cola, burp uncomfortably and yet be happy about it. Advertising people! Do not blindly believe it!

Next time do follow yourself when you do stuff. Well I do smoke near 10 ciggies a day – I havent seen some dude who comes on TV / Print / Online who tells me its good. But yes, I do meet people who tells me its good!!!

Junta keeps going crazy on their iPod and the amount of crappy music they carry on it with pride. Just an appreciation for all of them! This V – Day could have quite a lot of this gadget being gifted all across the globe. Spread the music all around!

New kind of forms happening on the web

February 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

new-kind-of-marketing1

I see a new kind of marketing where the landing page looks something like this. One form – two entries – your name and email and a video to go with it. Twitter is the main source of marketing here. Catch those social media types with a huge huge following and then broadcast this link to people with a relevant 90 character message which usually goes “Blah Blah” – awesome video. go watch!

Word of Mouth usually happens with retweets or maybe even a few emails to follow up on that deal. Personally, I think this is sweet. I am slowly removing my hatred for online videos too! Just fire me with quality stuff. I ll come with you!

KLPD experienced – too much expecation to FAIL!

February 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment

good-bad

I just had an experience which made me expect too much from some dude on the net which later left me quite disappointed. This again started with a link I got from Twitter or some (I don’t exactly remember where) which lead me to a really cool video.

This video had a dude with a lot of surfboards on the beach; unshaven-long-haired-t shirt-jeans-f word filled-marketing-consultant kinda dude. He talked really cool about his success, how he made some cool money by catching on human psyche and stuff. Really cool. The video even had some neat bass lines in the back ground to give that ‘funk feel’ if you get what I mean.

Next to the video was a box to enter your email id and access to more videos from this guy. “Damn cool” and I clicked to see those videos all of which sucked major ass. MAJOR ASS! Later I got one email from this guy saying thanks and related jazz – straight to spam! I did not even want to know that my email id has been misused!

The key here is – Do not be super awesome. If you happen to do so, make sure the rest of the stuff you made atleast stand up to hype you created by being super awesome. Or else you get spammed.

Valentine on Facebook

February 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment

valentine
Today is 12 of Feb – got two more days for the Most Extra Hyped Useless day of the year called the V-day. Ideally its a V day for me everyday! You dont wait for one particular day to do the thing – do you?

But “compare people” app on Facebook has come out with the shadiest of all applications called a V day special (and yes I clicked to see). It comes out with all your Female friends on FB and questions like “Who would you sleep with?” or “Who smells better?”

Well, I don’t want my girl friends to open Facebook and see shady comments like “Kiran thinks you dont smell good!” Forget Valentine – I ll lose this friend for ever! Thank you “Compare People”. Good imagination!

Good or Bad?

February 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

devil-angel

I have been a big critic of online video.

1. It took too much time to load
2. You had to wait for the damn thing to render
3. Quality is never assured.

However, now I trip BIG time on online videos – the above things still remaining. User rating and comments being one of the factors (Youtube I am talking about here). The other being the quality being assured (TED FTW).

So, if you want to watch Amazing videos, go to www.ted.com and spend a lot of time there. For one, TED works on an invite basis and people get to talk for 18 minutes only. So short, sweet, compelling and BS screened. (Most videos go beyond 18 minutes though) ;-)

Well, I stumbled on a killer video by Philip Zimbardo. Worth a watch.

He talks on how good people can turn evil and how evil ones could actually turn good. The picture above is one I made on tribute to the whole idea. Ying and yang of the human psyche.

If you think you are good, try putting yourself in a situation where you have the power to inflict evil on another human being, be anonymous and authority to protect you in case you fall in shit. This is a super juicy situation in which you can’t help being evil.

On the other hand, if you have the balls to stand out when evil happens and act against it – even if physical or psychological harm is possible and ever ready to act on it (and not really freeze), you become an every day hero and thus an angel – a very difficult proposition.

For more dope on the deal, go watch that video. It blew my head off!
