Do check out this site called Popmundo.
This is a massively multi player online game revolving around the music industry. Sweetness at its heights – I have not been able to not give it attention for quite a while.
You start off as a nobody in a city, keep acquiring skills – musical and otherwise, talk to people and even get laid (online that is) depending upon your charm, keep tab on the industry, get work at places, jam with friends, arrange to get into shows, get arrested etc. etc. And all you need is a net connection – broadband not required.
I give it a good 4.5 stars on 5 as of now! Go check it. It is massive BTW!

Proto id taking the startup fundamentals to the next level – level of gaming. Are there too many startups among us to do such a thing.
Check it out here.
My take is how can a bunch of people vote for a startup just like that. Or did Proto cater mostly to an academic crowd who do stunts for a bigger pay package. Or do we see a serious thrust towards entrepreneurship among students?

I was playing around with the idea that online video may not really take off here. For one, it does not fall into the erratic online behavior – takes time and the final result is not always worth the wait. However trends were saying a different story.

Stumbled on this report about Top iphone downloads.
Top 10 Free Downloads (Overall).
1-Pandora Radio (music, 2 million iPhone subs who spend 90 minutes listening on average)
2-Facebook (social networking)
3-Tap Tap Revenge (game)
4-Shazam (music)
5-Labyrinth Lite Edition (game)
6-Remote (entertaining app)
7-Google Earth (only launched 2 months ago)
8-Lightsaber Unleashed (cool and fun app, close to a game for Dark Vador fans…)
9-AIM (highlights the strength of AIM in the US vs Europe)
10-Urbanspoon
Top Paid Apps (Overall):
1-Koi Pond
2-Texas Hold’em (game)
3-Moto Chaser (game)
4-Crash Bandicoot: Nitro Kart 3d (game)
5-Super Monkey Ball (game)
6-Cro-Mag Rally (game)
7-Enigmo (game)
8-Pocket Guitar
9-Recorder
10-iBeer
The keywords are free music, Facebook and such social networking activities and games (people are ready for pay for it too). Video does not really feature anywhere. Is it time to relook at the trends now?

I have been spending good two days on this browser game that I stumbled on – Travian.
Consider this more as a very initial level review of the game. Also that I do not spend too much time on any website. The game looks simple, no heavy graphics, no heavy using up of RAM and game is ON practically all the time. Travian is a very social game with more than 31,000 registered players – mostly adult. Its a lot strategic in nature – as per the forums and such.
What do i like about the game?
It is pretty social with active users. 30 out of 31 users are active – I guess it requires at least one login or may be two within a week to call a user active.

Travian
Travian is pretty addictive and simple. You could just keep this open on the browser like your regular Linked in, Orkut, Twitter or any of those – always open website and you DO have interesting things to do there.
Immense possibilities! If you are not on the game, trip on the forums, strategies, trouble shoots and such gimmicks.
Footnote: Recommended!

Wikimapia can take a good percentage of your

online time provided you know how to trip on its features. Same goes for all packages in the same category – google maps and such satellite rendered stuff – Respect! West Side!! Yo…
Age of Empires have resulted in sleepless nights of students all over.
Imagine a social networking site based on combining these two concepts – Age of Empires over Wikimapia. Real countries, real regions and role play over them.
This one would kick ass and I am sure to use it when it comes out!
