Ads on buses and rics – good visibility?

December 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Advertising on buses, rics and trains are smart ideas. Getting to hear that this form of ads are sure catching up on a lot of places.

These two are your regular new media startups going beyond new media to advertise themselves. Where? The Rush Hour!

Analytics and stuff may be tough for these ads. However, going by the Reach – Frequency formula, more buses / rics / taxis in congested traffic where people can’t avoid to see these ads sure can get some Word of Mouth publicity. A lot of movies sure try to do stuff on BEST buses.

And at times neat neat creatives too. Can we call it OOH though?

OOH goes the self branding way

December 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have always had a hard on for OOH media creatives. Right from kid days, the window seat by the car, bus, ric or the scooter (hic!) gives you an idea of this form of advertising. I love Chennai for the OOH ads they have at Mount Road. Its huge machi

Just heard here that now OOH is looking for self branding. That means less of the huge white space with the mobile number in red. That is a killer move. Kids (the grown up types too) can now look forward to cooler banners on an arbit ride down the town.

Copy cat OOH

November 30, 2008 · 2 Comments

I had blogged about a ‘Killer OOH idea’ here sometime mid October. John Players with Hritik Roshan in the middle of a Gurgaon road.

Seeing something on the same lines with Tata Sky + and Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan in the middle of a Bombay road but.

Our entire popular culture is bitten by the ‘copy cat bug’. Gajini from Tamil to Hindi, Priyadarshan making absolutely pathetic copies of 80s Malayalam movies in Hindi and now even some innovation in OOH advertising. Sad that money still flows!

OOH and its fight

October 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

OOH (Out of Home) advertising has 70% ad recall as per reports.

However, there are quite a few criticisms against OOH metrics. Till date, no robust OOH advertising metrics is available in the market.

Malls, airports, multiplexes etc. seem to have quite a high penetration of OOH advertising – based on ‘foot falls’ and such.

“Its good. Dont know how good” seems to be the underlying theme here.

October 18, 2008 · 1 Comment

OOH is one form of ad media with impossible creative possibilities.

John Players has come out with an amazing banner with some kick ass visibility factors. Hrithik Roshan on the middle of Gurgaon Road enticing the drivers to wear John Players threads.
