Fosters – Art of chilling – how it rocks

June 13, 2009 · 3 Comments

Lets get one thing straight – i dont drink even if the beer flows free on the house! (yup, i can do that)

So, a good friend of mine mails me on linked in saying “Indiblogger meet” and I got one keyword which said “Free beer”.

I lugged John’s laptop and took off to Pune. Twitter meet types with beer shouldn’t be a bad idea.

I was on for a surprise. A pool party with beautiful babes thrown in man! Awe-fu**in-some!

I am a man with a laptop who wants the least to be the geek. No, its cool to run XP but women hate laptops. But hello, now that the scene is on, lets be the cool geek! Straight clear questions were asked to the models if they blog which they happily answered in the negative.

DJ Lokesh and DJ Tally were told clearly to take care of John’s laptop and also to play good old reggae and jungle, which they happily did in the positive.

Was a lot of fun. I took a pirate hat called “Fosters Art of Chilling”. I am wearing my headphones right now. But I did go to a Tribal DDB farewell party wearing it and claimed to be an ex-Webchutney fellow. The bouncers liked the hat too. They told me so!

Take one more look at the models.

Oh BTW the Pune tweeters think social media can one day change the world! Cheers to them! But they surely missed the Marilyn Manson mix (Beautiful people). Man, that rocked my bald head off!

“Multi – role” guy

April 7, 2009 · 1 Comment

I was having a conversation with an old school Fauji and suddenly this idea popped into my brain.

Any person in the online medium calls himself a word – marketeer, developer, designer, search engine optimizer etc. based on how they spend their time at their agencies / startups. And a lot of pro startup blogs and people keep throwing this idea of sporting different “hats” – the idea is to be a master of few and a jack of lot of trades. So, it would be better to call a true blue startup dude in a “multi-role” way.

parts

You could be a 50% marketeer, 20% developer and a 30% designer – all in one. Meaning at a particular point in time, you are best at marketing (SEM, SEO, Biz Dev, Client Servicing etc.), not so good at design and yet attempt at making some and pull up your sleeves and open up the code and fuck around with the syntax – could range from changing your Div padding to hierarchy in C++.

Internet and Globalization – a paradox?

April 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A lot of funny, crazy and interesting things happening around these days.

Work as usual is the most blizzare of all. Internet medium, web development, advertising, branding and a sheer inexperience in all these concepts do call in for desperate means. ‘Web’ persons and ‘ad’ persons with differences in opinions; ‘UI’ and ‘creative’ with differences in opinions; ‘Content Writers’ and ‘Copy writers’ with differences in opinion; hell the ‘tea’ persons and ‘coffee’ persons could have differences in opinions. Looks like the whole world revolves around differences in opinions. Are we gazing at a whole new paradigm shift over here with every tom, dick and harry wanting to move the online way?

I think we could start off with a whole new breed of people down here. Yesterday a colleague of mine was tripping on the concept of pure human breeds becoming the ‘in thing’ in say a hundred and fifty years from now. Gone are the days when a ‘Half mallu – Half gujju’ or a ‘Half sindhi – Half telugu’ used to amaze people. Good old down to earth mumbaikars being emotional over their South African and Australian expat girlfriends / boyfriends seems to have take Globalization to a whole new level in itself. So a pure ‘Tam Bram’ in a 150 years from now could actually just be a thing to watch out for.

Looking at this concept above, we need not wait for a 150 long years to trip on the ‘Once upon a time pure Web person’ or a ‘Once upon a time pure Ad person’. Online baby – it fucks you up! So grow up! Keep quiet and accept the facts. Your ’scenes’ might just be ‘less’ in the days to come (some chutney lingo to the uninitiated).

Wait! Did I just say Globalization some time back? Did we all not trip somewhere in the late 90s (ya, i was a little school boy then wanting to go to America) that the internet and ‘computers’ will change the world? Did we all not watch Arnold movies where our hero beat the shit out of bad ass aliens disturbing the peace of the Globalized world with his big ass guns, coolers, and bombs he keeps in his back pocket! Forget for now that this Globalized world usually revolved around some buildings, statues and bridges around New York or California! Still, the very internet which is supposed to take globalization to the next level is fighting over their local egos – ‘web’ vs. ‘ad’ and ‘UI’ vs. ‘creative’!

Something is weird! Serious weird! Should I just dial up a super hero – someone like Captain Planet to tell these kids to chill out! Or even a Shaktiman who comes spinning down through these crazy internet browsers and give you a speech about respecting elders, avoiding jaywalking and to tell these kids to chill out! I have already kept my “Sorry Shaktiman” speech ready!

Whats the trip?

December 27, 2007 · 1 Comment

I have been tripping on trips off late. A beautiful concept in itself. Relate the stuff to the concept of a concept – deep to anyone with above average IQ levels.

Some arbit trips have been sounded here and there in Webchutney of late. Tripping on Mac, tripping on a ‘thod phod’ design, tripping on Goa, tripping on going home, tripping on a beautful piece of code, tripping on Satriani, tripping on some good whiskey or just tripping on a trip!

There were trips on some beautiful codes too – some sort of geeky trip. How CSS makes you trip types. Not just yet there with respect to CSS is my trip on. Will give everyone some beautiful trip when I am just getting there.

whats on!!!

December 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Been quite a busy month with all the net and related stuff taking up most of my time awake. Literally 12 – 13 hours in the office, realxed dressing, goatee growing, a lot of irritating clients and all that jazz. New lingo, new passions and new horizons – neat i say. Been doing good old stuff too… thats even more amazing. Like to keep the suspense going on for a while as in what “good old stuff” is all about!!!  How good? How old?

One value add for all these days has been the concept of Information Architecture. Just a very organised way of seeing the w’s and the h of the website. Kinda enjoying it well. Visio and jpegs take up my time instead of word and excel. Welcome change i say. Its not all that bad. My laptop been screwing my peace of mind for sometime – a lot of time and I just fucking hate it. New laptop acting like an old hag – What the fuck?
